 Isabel Nina McClelland Pfahl (nee Blackburn)

 


Isabel N. Pfahl, 90, passed away on December 24, 2016.
She was born in Akron, Ohio on February 12, 1926 to Mary Emma Reece and John E. Blackburn. She graduated from Akron Hower High School in 1944.
She developed polio at age 6 and later joined The Post-Polio Support Group. Isabel was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.
She was employed as a cosmetologist and worked at several beauty salons before opening Cosmetique Beauty Salon in West Akron and Hair Designs Unlimited in Fairlawn. She was the owner of both salons and employed over 10 stylists.
She enjoyed converting photos and slides into videotapes (and then later into DVD's) adding titles, music, narration and special effects, for her family and friends.
She enjoyed traveling with her husband to Asia, Europe, the Caribbean Islands, Hawaii, Alaska, South Padre Island, and Japan.
She enjoyed roller skating as a young girl, and later bowling and card games (especially gin rummy), with family and friends. 
  
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers; John Earnest Blackburn and Duane Blackburn, sister; Christine R. Blackburn; and her husband, Frank R. Pfahl. 
  
She will be remembered as a dear and loving mother, wife and friend.
Isabel is survived by her children, Judy McClelland, Daniel (Noriko) McClelland, Marcia (Ron) Clugsten; sister, Louise Tarrant; brother, Zane Blackburn; stepchildren, Colleen Pfahl, Frank (Beth) Pfahl, Beverly (Randy) Godding, and David (Bobbie) Pfahl; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. 
  
Funeral service will be held 1 p.m. TUESDAY, January 3, 2017 at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd., with The Rev. Dr. George Murphy officiating. Friends and family may call two hours prior to the service on TUESDAY at the funeral home. Interment will be at Rose Hill Burial Park.
