Donna Huston passed away peacefully on March 9, 2021 at the age of 83 years old after a long battle with cancer and post polio syndrome. Donna was born in Dillonvale, Ohio on October 3, 1937 to the late Vlaudy and Erma Horsky, then lived in the Akron area for most of her life. After graduating from Akron University with a degree in Education, Donna taught at Sharon Center Elementary School as a fourth grade teacher for 30 years. She was a gifted musician who played several different instruments and was often known for accompanying school programs by playing the piano and banjo. She was loved by her students and colleagues which kept in touch with her over the years. She would always look forward to luncheons with the other retired teachers. Donna and her husband Chuck were affectionately known to many friends as their second parents. Donna is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Huston; and granddaughter, Amelia Shambaugh. She is survived by her daughters, Lynda Shambaugh and Jamie Huston, and her granddaughter, Lindsey Shambaugh. She will be missed by many including her loyal dog, Heidi. Calling hours will be held 4-7 p.m. TODAY at Ciriello & Carr Funeral Home, 39 S. Miller Rd. In Fairlawn. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, March 13th at Grace Church Bath Campus, 754 Ghent Rd. Fairlawn,OH 44333, where friends may call 10-11 a.m. Interment at Rose Hill Burial Park. In lieu of flowers, please give to the Summit County Humane Society or to the American Cancer Society.
