Shelba Jean Boso passSed to her eternal home peacefully on June 12, 2025 at her residence. Shelba was 86 years old, born in Wood County, WV on September 1, 1938.

Shelba was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Hilda Matheny; her bother Darrell Matheny, and several brothers & sisters in law.

Those who remain to cherish her memory include her husband of 66 years, Edwin C. Boso, PhD; her son, Edwin B. Boso, MD (Anne); her daughter, Rhonda L. Boso-Suggs (Clint); her grandchildren, Luke Boso, J.D (Alex), Patrick Suggs, MD (Kaitlynn), Alexandra Aspenwall (Alex), Clayton Suggs (Samantha), Andrew Suggs (Leah), and Samuel Boso (Emma); and 8 great grandchildren (with one on the way).

Shelba grew up in Washington WV and enjoyed the antics of a young girl with her many cousins on the farm. At the age of 14, she was stricken with Polio and navigated the remainder of her life with the mobility challenges left by that disease. But Shelba was resilient and persevered. After graduating from Parkersburg High School with the class of 1957 she married her high school sweet heart, Edwin C. Boso. Together they raised two children and enjoyed an early married life in the United States Navy where they traveled parts of the world including North Africa, Scotland and several locations throughout the United States before returning to Wood County, WV in 1973 where they built their home and settled. In their retirement years, she and Edwin enjoyed traveling throughout the US and Canada in their motor coach. They enjoyed many trips and the friendships that grew from those travels. Shelba was a woman of many talents and artistic ability. Her home and the homes of her family members display many of her paintings, quilts, needle work, and other crafts. Most importantly though, Shelba loved Jesus. She was a lifelong member of Fairview United Methodist Church and served Jesus through many roles within that church over the years. The pages of her Bible are well worn from the study of her Lord's scriptures.

While in the final years, dementia robbed her of memories, it did not rob her of her spirit. She was spunky and witty to the end. Shelba was able to live out her life at home. A few care givers came and went over the years but the family extends a special thank you to those who were primary caregivers for her; Erin Borkowski, Amber Reynolds, Allison Daggett, Vinetta Radcliff, and Debbie Jerrell. A thank you as well to Amedisys Hospice for assisting us in her final hours.
